Week Commencing 24/02/2020 to 28/02/2020

This week has been the first week I have been working with and on Cybersecurity. I started with Power Automate (Flow)  this was for the incident Log which uses the flow to pull data triggered by an email using the subject with these inputs.

Blocked Malware
AntiVirus Alert
Scam Email
Alert from Sophos Central

These would be forwarded to the set mailbox that triggers the flow, once one of the emails have come into this mailbox the flow triggers and inserts a row into the SQL database giving us accurate data that can be pulled out of the database and put into Power BI to be shown for the management report at the end of the month.

Also, this will give us a stable platform for the next ISO 27001 audit come November.

This was one of the Nonconformance we had so now that this is fixed this should be an improvement last year.

10/02/2020 to 14/02/2020

My week has been spent at Escalla training academy. This was the week where we were learning HTML 5 and CSS fundamentals.

This exam at the end of this week is meant for the Digital Marketing apprenticeships, however this was a training week preparing the IT Comms apprentices for the MTA exam taking place on the 16th March.

We have been working through the PDF document that was given to us at the start of the week. I have been slowly working through this and highlighting the information I believe I will need for the exam. We have been using Kahoot to help us get to grips with the type of answers that might be thrown out way.

I will keep on throughout the next few weeks going through the guide and hopefully be ready for the training week before we do out MTA.

Week Commencing 21/10/2019 to 05/12/2019

Unfortunately i haven't been updating my blog for a while, due there begin alot of work that needs doing a change of staff.

Overall I just haven't had time to write my blog update.

Over the past month i have been working on a project that has been in process for the past couple of years. I was slowly introduced to this and now i am leading this project along side a few of my colleagues from different areas in the company.

This past month we have been working with Cloud Call to ensure that we are ready to go and release it to TME (The Move Exchange). This included many back and forth calls and also the day before the roll-out date Ross the Service Manager came out and gave us a in-depth guide on what we can expect when it is rolled out.

He also gave us a guide on how to use and also a guide for TME as well. We are now scheduling more appointments with Ross and new call flows are being set up as we are going to be rolling out to the rest of the business mid - January. So now we are making sure we have got everything we need to go forward and make it a success for the rest of the business.

Week commencing the 14/10/2019 to 18/10/2019

This week i have been documenting processes that needed to be documented. starting with the VPN setup. so that everyone in the company who wants and can work from home. I created a document that people can use to setup the VPN, and this would then allow them to configure it themselves at home.

I have put it up on my Skilsure account for evidence. It shows you who already is a registered user am who has access to the VPN in the first place. this will be able to be done on any machine as long as they have access , which can only be checked by the users who have access to the admin portal. This is where they can edit and change different settings regarding the firewall, this is where all the users can be implemented and taken out. On the document I have given to everyone this has what users have been implemented on their so they know if they have an account or not.

Also I have been using OnDMARC and setting up new clients DNS settings. It has been a long process and we have been learning step by step and today we had a call with Tunc who is a redsift trainer for OnDMARC.

He went through the basic runthrough of ondmarc. Which I will be documenting in the next few days if I have time.

We have been given a client DNS provider to implement it ourselves but we are having problems with that so we are going to have to contact their provider and see how they add in a DMARC protection for it then to be recognized and then configured.

Week commencing 30/9/2019 and the 7/10/2019

Over the past couple of weeks its been busy, mainly I have been working on Voiphone and Polymorph learning with setting up phone lines and logging requests etc. We needed to set up a new line for the OPS team which needed to be set up on a brand new line.

So after setting up going through quite a few calls with Voiphone I finally set up the phone line. A new user was going to be put into that loop with the other phones so I had to figure out how I was going to include her in the current usual loop for Ops. This took me a while and a few calls down the line but i figured it out which loop to put her in and if she would receive the call first second or third.
Shown above.

Setting up VPN's as well for colleagues to use when they are working from home. I had to contact Sophos which is our main vendor for our firewall (XG Firewall). I had to setup multiple colleagues accounts on Sophos and then activate their VPN they have access to. I have made a step by step guide showing them how to access the VPN if they are a user.

As shown above.

Week commencing 23/09/19

This week I have been mainly focusing on IT support due to Stuart leaving it has been left up to me and Sam to manage the tasks. The tasks started off ok doing a few and documenting them and sorting them out.
However on Tuesday the OPS team next door a few of their phones went down. This was a new request one that needed to be changed on this provider called Voiphone, this was what I have been doing for the most of this week calling the support team for navigation around the site.
I had to group the phones that weren't working so I needed to find out the Ip addresses for those numbers that went down this was so I could access them manually to get into the phone and check what was going in there.

Underneath this is the IP Scanner this scans the range of Ip addresses in your area you have to set the range from where you want to scan it from.

The loops I had to do aswell for certain colleagues these were found on Voiphone I had to give support a call a few times as I wasn't sure. But figured it out now, and its all back up and working hopefully there shouldn't be anymore problems with the lead up to CloudCall.

Week Commencing 16/09/2019

This week I have been setting up the new Managing director, that has just been employed at Practical Vision. Me and Sam have been in charge of his induction where we have to show him the different things to be aware off such as make sure your password is protected and, to let you know about phishing emails and if you are going to be scammed what sort of things you should look out for.

There was a few things that we needed to set up as well, he wanted for me and Sam to set up the printer as he wasn't connected to the scanner and also, we needed to buy a few things for him that he will need when he is working from home etc.

Other than that I have been installing some SSD's into colleagues PC's not all of the company has theses installed so I have purchased some in for Monday where I will install a few more. this will make the PC's faster as I have had a few complaints on the speed of some colleagues PC's so once this is done no one should have any complaints. I have completed a lot of requests this week on different IT related tasks as well.
